In November 2020 I have participated in the NewStart Challenge, where we had to come up with a solution for the elderly and high risk groups to still enjoy life during this pandemic. I was part of a 4 member group, and together we came up with a solution to give purpose to the target group and give them different ideas on how to involve themselves to still be a part of the society.
★ 🏆 Out of 25 participating teams, my team won the challenge.
My team came up with an online and several offline solutions.
→ The SIS App ’Socially Isolated Social App’ (potential slogan: "Truly connecting people'') would have been one of the main ways of getting people to interact with each other. People who know how to use a computer/ smartphone and have internet access are the main users of this App.
→ The Not an App Plan - was a method that could help our target group that does not have a computer/
smartphone and/or don’t have internet access.

The main goal of our initiative was to make the elderly feel included, and be given a purpose. With their help and knowledge, they would have been able to contribute to society. By giving them a purpose, and the means, the quality of their life as well as the social aspects of it would have improved. We wanted to create a need for their services and decrease demotivation through several activities.
e.g. Knitting
→ e.g. For charity - get scarves/gloves/blankets made for children in need. For a mother that would like handmade blankets for her children.
→ Materials -> find sponsors /donors/investors to provide them
→ Deliveries -> done by volunteers/social workers, delivery companies, etc. both before and after
→ If it’s for a cause -> the organization can figure it out (they might already have a system set up)
